One in four women and girls around the world will have an abortion. Many others are unable to access abortion services that are free, safe and legal. This is a violation of their fundamental human rights. The ability of a person to decide not to go through a pregnancy could allow numerous opportunities in life – including education, employment, financial security and good health.
IPPF is continuing its decades’ work on reproductive freedom by building a global campaign that speaks for women and girls around the world and highlights the need for women to lead safe and dignified lives, free from coercion.
The ‘I Decide’ global campaign kicked off on International Safe Abortion Day 2018 and will end on International Women’s Day on March 8, 2019. Throughout these 6 months we will be sharing stories raising public awareness of the harm and hurt endured by so many women who are denied dignified abortion care or who are stigmatised. Hopefully, we will also be sharing stories of triumph of compassion over coercion.
If you wish to support the campaign pledge your voice to demand reproductive freedom for all women – everywhere. And join the conversation on social media by using #IDecide.
